فَحَسَ, aor. ـَ {يَفْحَسُ}, inf. n. فَحْسٌ, He took a thing from his hand, with his tongue and his mouth; such as water, &c.: (Lth, T, O, Ḳ:) or he licked up a thing with his tongue, from his hand. (O: but only the inf. n. is mentioned.)

And فَحَسَ السَّلْتَ, aor. as above, (O,) and so the inf. n., (O, Ḳ,) He rubbed [the ears off] the سلت, (O, Ḳ, TA,) a particular species of barley, (TA,) so that the awn, or beard, [thereof] became removed (O, Ḳ, TA) and scattered. (TA.)

افحس He (a man) abraded by degrees, lit., thing after thing. (TA.)

تَفَيْحَسَ He carried himself in an elegant and a proud and self-conceited manner, with an affected inclining of his body from side to side, in his gait: (O, Ḳ:*) and so تَفَيْسَحَ. (O.)
