Hence, أَمْعَنَ فِى الطَّلَبِ He went very far in search: (Mṣb:) or he went far, or to a great or an extraordinary length, therein. (Mgh.)―
امعن فِى الشَّىْءِ, (Ḥam p. 817,) or فِى الأَمْرِ, (MA, Ḳ, Ḥar p. 176,) He went far, (Ḳ, Ḥam, Ḥar,) or deep, or beyond bounds, (MA,) in, or into, the thing, or affair. (Ḥam, &c.)―
