قنح قند قنر
اقند السَّوِيقَ He put قَنْد into the سويق [or meal of parched barley or wheat]. (IḲṭṭ.)
قَنْدٌ (Ṣ, A, L, Mṣb, Ḳ) andقَنْدَةٌ↓ andقِنْدِيدٌ↓ (L, Ḳ) The honey (or expressed juice, TA) of the sugar-cane, (Ṣ, A, L, Ḳ,) when it has become concrete, (L, Ḳ,) or when it has been rendered concrete; (as in some copies of the Ḳ;) [or sugar-candy;] see also طَبَرْزَدٌ; with which فَانِيد is made: (L:) or that of which sugar is made; so that sugar is to قند like clarified butter to fresh butter: the pl. of قند is قُنُودٌ: (Mṣb:) it is (as some say, Mṣb) an arabicized word, (Mṣb, Ḳ,) from [the Pers.] كَنْدٌ [or قَنْدْ]. Wine: (AA, IAạr, Ṣ, L, Ḳ:) or it is not wine, (Aṣ, Ṣ, IJ,) but like إِسْفِنْطٌ, i. e., (Aṣ, Ṣ,) expressed juice (Aṣ, T, Ṣ, L, Ḳ) of grapes, (T, L,) boiled, (Aṣ, T, Ṣ, L,) with aromatics put in it, (Aṣ, T, Ṣ, L, Ḳ,) and then rendered more fragrant by an admixture of other perfumes: [so I render يُفْتَقُ:] (T, L, Ḳ:) or beverage, or wine, (شَرَابٌ,) made of قَنْد: (A:) pl. قَنَادِيدُ. The state, or condition, of a man, whether good or bad; as alsoقِنْدِدٌ↓: (Ḳ:) pl. of the former قَنَادِيدُ. (IAạr.)
جَآءَ بِالأَمْرِ عَلَى قَنَادِيدِهِ [He did the thing] in its [proper] manner. (Ḳ.)
قِنْدَأْوٌ is mentioned among the words whose last radical letter is ع. (Ḳ.) Aboo-Málik says, that رَجُلٌ قِنْدَاوَةٌ, of the measure فِعْلَاوَةٌ, signifies A light, or active, man: and نَاقَةٌ قِنْدَاوَةٌ a swift she-camel: (Ṣ:) and a bold she-camel: (Fr, Ṣ:) and the epithet is with and without ع: (Fr:) and جَمَلٌ قِنْدَاوٌ a swift he-camel: and قَدُومٌ قِنْدَأْوَةٌ a sharp adz: but others say فِنْدَأْوَةٌ, with ف. (Ṣ.)
