نَشَفَ المَآءَ, aor. ـِ {يَنْشِفُ}, (Mgh, Mṣb,) inf. n. نَشْفٌ, (Mṣb,) He took [or absorbed] the water from the ground, (Mgh, Mṣb,) or from a pool, (Mgh,) with a piece of rag or some other thing (Mgh, Mṣb) of a similar kind. (Mṣb.)

نَشَّفَتْ She (a camel) [yielded frothy milk;] had نُشَافَة. (Ṣ in art. رغو. [See 2 in that art.])

أَنْشَفَ الأَرْضَ المَآءَ [It caused the earth to imbibe the water], said of the سَمُوم. (Ḳ voce أَضْرَبَ.)
