غَرْقَدٌ A species of tree, (Ṣ, O, L, Ḳ,) of large size, (L, Ḳ,) of the kind termed عِضَاه, (L,) said by some to grow in the ground termed قُفّ: (O, L:) or the species of tree called عَوْسَج [or boxthorn], when it has grown large: (AḤn, O, L, Ḳ:) a species of thorny tree: (L:) [a coll. gen. n.:] n. un. with ة {غَرْقَدَةٌ}. (L, O, Ḳ.)

It is said in the Ḳ to signify also The white of an egg: but as thus expl., it is app. a mistake for غِرْقِئٌ. (TA.)
