جَعْفَدَةٌ [inf. n. of جَعْفَدَ] a compound word from the phrase جَعَلَنِى ٱللّٰهُ فِدَاكَ [May God make me thy ransom]. (Ibn-Diḥyeh, TA.) [You say, جَعْفَدَهُ, meaning He said to him جعلنى ٱللّٰه فداك.]
